Retail Investors Slow Down Stock Purchases: Net Buying of $13 billion in the past month hits lowest level since 2020

BlockBeats News, July 11th, according to VandaTrack data, over the past month, retail investors net bought $13 billion of U.S. stocks, marking the lowest level since 2020. Since the beginning of 2026, retail investors' monthly net purchase amount has dropped by $18 billion, a 58% decrease. At the same time, individual stock net buy orders have decreased by $8 billion, a 71% decrease, to $3.2 billion, the lowest level since the first quarter of 2020.

Nevertheless, the total amount of retail investors' holdings has reached a record $500 billion, doubling from mid-2024. Currently, the selling pressure from retail investors is almost as strong as the buying pressure, compressing the net buying volume. Retail trading activity in the market is cooling off.
