According to Watchtower Beating monitoring, Anthropic has announced the lease of a 16-story office building in Manhattan's Hudson Yards, with plans to double the local team to 1,000 people within this year. The new office is located at 330 Hudson Street, with an area of approximately 466,000 square feet, a significant increase from the original office's 15,500 square feet, marking a 30-fold expansion.
This transaction is not an isolated case, as Manhattan is witnessing a land grab by artificial intelligence companies. Real estate consultancy firm Cushman & Wakefield's data shows that in the first quarter of 2026, the office leasing area for the artificial intelligence industry in Manhattan reached 1.03 million square feet, surpassing the total for the entire year of 2025. The proportion of artificial intelligence in office leasing in the local tech industry has also soared from 20.9% in 2024 to 55.9%.
In addition to Anthropic, OpenAI and the legal AI startup Harvey have also previously leased large office spaces in Manhattan.
