BlockBeats News, July 5th, Serenity's post indicated that there is currently a shortage of high-power cylindrical batteries/BBU cells, which has become a potential bottleneck.
Samsung SDI supplies the cells to Simplo, which then assembles them into BBU units for companies like Meta and Amazon. With the increasing demand from data centers, Samsung SDI's cylindrical battery production has also significantly increased. It cited industry sources claiming that Panasonic and Samsung SDI are facing a shortage of BBU cells.
Serenity believes that the main beneficiaries may include Samsung SDI, Panasonic Energy, Murata Manufacturing, and LG Energy Solution. Among them, Samsung SDI and Panasonic Energy are more direct beneficiaries.
It also stated that there are not many direct targets in the U.S. market, but it is worth paying attention to companies like Vertiv (VRT) and Eaton (ETN). However, not all shortages should be simply equated with having a huge TAM, but there may be opportunities within them.
