BlockBeats News, July 1st, according to the South Korean mainstream financial media SEDaily, Samsung Electronics is developing a technology that uses quantum computing to simulate the core photolithography process in semiconductor manufacturing. This is a project aimed at leveraging next-generation information technology to drive breakthroughs in semiconductor integration and yield.
The project is being developed by Samsung Group's system integration subsidiary Samsung SDS, and is scheduled to start technical Proof of Concept (PoC) in the second half of this year.
It is reported that Samsung SDS is currently developing a quantum computing-based simulation algorithm that can virtually simulate part of the photolithography process. The photolithography process is a key step that uses light to draw fine circuit patterns on a wafer, which is equivalent to completing a "draft" drawing before etching to form the actual circuit. Therefore, it is considered one of the core processes that determine the quality, integration, and manufacturing yield of semiconductor products.
