BlockBeats News, June 30, the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the U.S. Department of Labor pointed out in a report that despite the measures taken by the Bureau of Labor Statistics to enhance data protection after several incidents of early release of key economic data in 2024, further efforts are still needed to prevent such events from happening again.
The audit assessed three separate incidents, including the early release of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data, delayed employment data release, and cases where statistical methods were disclosed to only a few individuals.
The Office of the Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Labor stated: "In response to these incidents, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has addressed information technology security vulnerabilities, revised performance standards, strengthened management oversight, updated policies and procedures, and conducted relevant training. However, we found that the Bureau of Labor Statistics still has room for improvement to reduce the risk of improper disclosure of key economic information."
