ByteDance is expected to complete the design of its next-generation self-developed CPU as early as the beginning of next year, with the goal of mass production and large-scale deployment in the second half of next year.

BlockBeats News, June 29th, according to the South China Morning Post, three sources familiar with the matter revealed that ByteDance plans to complete the design of its next-generation self-developed CPU by early next year at the latest, aiming for mass production and large-scale deployment by the second half of 2027 to support its expanding artificial intelligence layout. One of the sources said that an early version of this self-developed CPU has been used internally in the company since the end of last year.

However, another source said that due to the urgent demand, the tape-out time for the new generation CPU may be advanced. For ByteDance, this CPU is part of its strategy to build its own chip product portfolio and integrate more self-developed hardware into its AI infrastructure. Two sources revealed that to speed up the development and help secure foundry capacity, ByteDance is actively cooperating with the U.S. chipmaker Qualcomm, which is expanding its AI data center business. The collaboration with Qualcomm, a U.S. chipmaker that is adopting a fab-less model and outsourcing manufacturing to foundries like TSMC, aims to help ByteDance cope with a highly strained advanced chip supply chain.
