BlockBeats News, June 25th, two surveys commissioned by the Coalition for Prediction Markets showed that both Democratic and Republican voters in the United States are more inclined towards a unified federal-level regulation of prediction markets rather than a model where each state independently regulates the market. Among them, 48% of Republican respondents support a federal unified framework, while only 27% support state-level regulation; among Democratic respondents, 45% support federal regulation, higher than the 35% supporting state-level regulation.
Only 8% of the respondents believe that prediction markets should be banned in the United States, with the majority of voters supporting consumer choice on whether to participate in prediction markets. The survey also showed that the age group under 35 has the highest acceptance of prediction markets, with over half of the young respondents expressing interest in using or have already used related platforms.
Currently, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket are in dispute with several state governments over regulatory authority, with the main focus on whether sports event contracts are considered prediction market products under federal regulation.
