According to Dongcha Beating monitoring, Google has announced its support for an incubator program for AI startups founded by former employees (Xooglers) to deepen collaboration with its alumni network and compete for early cloud and chip customers. The inaugural project is backed by the Google AI Futures Fund and aims to recruit 10 to 20 startups, providing them with 12 weeks of incubation support.
Selected startups will receive up to $100,000 in funding, along with $350,000 worth of Google Cloud and AI credits. In addition to financial and computing power support, a team of former Google executives will provide mentorship to the entrepreneurs, including former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer. Startups will also gain crucial early access to Google's latest AI technologies before their public release.
The collaborators of the new incubator include the alumni community platform Xoogler.co founded by former employee Chris Fong and the venture capital project Key Studio initiated by ex-employee Kushagra Shrivastava. Currently, Xoogler.co has over 35,000 global members, including 2,500 accredited investors. With the emergence of AI giants founded by former Google employees such as OpenAI and Anthropic, Google is actively persuading more startups to use its in-house computing chips and cloud services. By leveraging its extensive former employee startup ecosystem, Google is attempting to establish early-stage technological ties and nurture future major clients.
