BlockBeats News, June 15th, Morgan Stanley's latest report predicts that as the AI cluster scale continues to expand, the demand for data transmission between GPUs will experience exponential growth. This will drive a rapid surge in optical module demand as optical modules upgrade from 400G to 800G, 1.6T, and even 3.2T. The internal PCBs of these optical modules will undergo a comprehensive upgrade in terms of materials, layers, and manufacturing processes, leading to a substantial increase in the value per PCB.
Morgan Stanley forecasts that from 2025 to 2028, the global AI optical module PCB market size will increase from $620 million to $3.77 billion, a growth of over 5 times in three years. The annual compound growth rate is as high as 83%, far exceeding the 60% growth rate of optical modules during the same period. The report indicates that the total shipments of AI optical modules are expected to be 73 million, 141 million, and 158 million in 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively. The 1.6T optical module shipment volume is expected to have a 3-year compound growth rate of about 60%, with the PCB market growing at 83%.
