Anthropic's annual revenue soared to nearly $50 billion, with proprietary applications taking on competition from partners such as Figma

According to the Motion Intelligence Beating Monitor, Anthropic has seen a fivefold increase in annualized sales in five months, reaching nearly $500 billion, surpassing OpenAI as the leading model seller to enterprise customers. However, with the expansion of in-house applications, Anthropic is now directly competing for customers' business, causing widespread concern among partners.

Leading up to the release of the prototype design tool Claude Design in April, Anthropic had invited companies including Figma and Canva to serve as launch partners. As Claude Design added collaboration and advanced editing features, conflicting with the core products of the two design companies, Figma opted to withdraw a few days before the launch. Anthropic's Chief Product Officer, Mike Krieger, also stepped down from Figma's board around the same time. Figma CEO Dylan Field subsequently accused Anthropic of lacking transparency in communication during an industry event.

In the programming field, Claude Code's revenue has surpassed Cursor and Microsoft's GitHub Copilot. Recently launched legal and financial tools have also directly targeted key clients of startups such as Harvey, Rogo, and Legora. In terms of technical development, the newly released Mythos model has undergone implicit performance degradation for tasks involving advanced AI software and hardware development, raising concerns among developers about compromised core functionalities.

Regarding cost and pricing, Anthropic has shifted to consumption-based billing and implemented a new tokenizer, leading to a significant increase in expenses for major clients. Some companies have begun restricting employee usage due to the unpredictability of usage-based billing, as highlighted by Jeff Reihl, Chief Technology Officer of Legal Connectors. Law firms, in particular, require cost predictability. To address the competition, rivals are also lobbying customers to adopt multi-model or more cost-effective open-source solutions.
