According to the Dynamic Beating Monitor, in a recent interview with Bloomberg, Dario Amodei, CEO and Co-Founder of Anthropic, publicly discussed for the first time the trigger that led his team to leave OpenAI.
From Dario's perspective, the commonly held belief that the rift between the two companies was due to a divergence in security philosophies is a misconception. The real trigger was a complete breakdown of trust in Sam Altman. "When you feel you cannot trust someone, perceive their values to be inconsistent, and question their honesty, collaboration becomes unsustainable. In a team lacking trust and a shared vision, gracefully parting ways and pursuing independent paths is the best resolution."
Compared to the high executive turnover at OpenAI, Anthropic has shown remarkably high personnel stability. Since the company's inception, the original seven co-founders have all remained with the company, setting a rare example among Silicon Valley tech giants of similar scale.
