The US Military Bombs Iran for Two Consecutive Nights, Trump Considered Launching a "Short and Sharp" Military Operation

BlockBeats News, June 11th. According to Axios citing U.S. officials, President Trump discussed military options with the National Security Council on Wednesday local time, one of which was to expand the scale of attacks in a short period of time to force Iran to change its negotiating stance.

U.S. Central Command confirmed that additional strikes on multiple targets in southern Iran began Wednesday afternoon Eastern Time, including air defense systems, radar, and unmanned aerial vehicle command and control facilities. U.S. Defense Secretary Esper stated that the U.S. will continue to push for an agreement through military pressure, saying, "If we need to negotiate with a bomb, we will negotiate with a bomb."

Iran, on the other hand, warned of a "harsh response" and announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, prohibiting any ship from passing through, with any attempt to pass through becoming a target. Iranian media reported that U.S. vessels near the Strait of Hormuz had been attacked by missiles and drones.

Reports indicated that Trump had previously added two demands at the end of May on the verge of reaching an agreement, including requiring Iran to begin diluting its enriched uranium stockpile within 60 days and committing not to charge tolls to ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to Iran's delayed response, there is growing frustration within the White House about Tehran's "delaying tactics." Meanwhile, the Qatari delegation's latest round of mediation has made no progress and has left Iran.

As of the latest update, President Trump stated, "The Iranian people have asked me to stop the bombing, and the bombing will stop soon."
