British Labour Party MP Sues xAI, Accusing Grok of Being Used to Generate Deepfake Pornographic Content

BlockBeats News, June 4th. UK Labour Party MP Jess Asato has filed a lawsuit against Musk's AI company xAI in the UK High Court, alleging that the Grok chatbot was used to generate deepfake pornographic content and sexualized images involving herself.

Asato stated that after publicly criticizing Grok in January this year, users utilized the model to create and disseminate fake images of her wearing a bikini, as well as a deepfake video involving a sexual assault scenario. She believes that the ability to generate such content was not an abuse but a design choice by xAI.

In this lawsuit, Asato has invoked the Data Protection Act and laws related to the misuse of private information. Besides seeking compensation, she also aims to establish a legal precedent holding AI companies accountable for model design and to compel tech firms to enhance their security measures.

Previously, xAI had announced after external criticism that it would ban users from utilizing Grok to generate sexualized images of real individuals. Currently, in the UK, creating or requesting the generation of non-consensual adult deepfake content is already considered illegal.
