Weekly Processing 25 Trillion Tokens, OpenRouter Completes $113 Million Series B Financing

According to 动察 Beating monitoring, OpenRouter has announced the completion of a $113 million Series B funding round. The round was led by CapitalG, the independent growth fund of Google's parent company Alphabet, with participation from NVentures, ServiceNow Ventures, MongoDB Ventures, Snowflake Ventures, and Databricks Ventures. Existing shareholders such as a16z and Menlo Ventures also joined the round.

OpenRouter is an AI model trading and routing platform that allows enterprises to access over 400 models from providers such as Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, xAI, and DeepSeek through a single API call.

The key driver of this funding round is the platform's usage growth. The company reports that its platform now processes 25 trillion tokens per week, equivalent to 100 trillion tokens per month, a five-fold increase from 6 months ago when it was processing 5 trillion tokens per week. The platform currently serves over 8 million global users, including AI-native startups and large enterprises.

OpenRouter aims to address the control challenges for enterprises transitioning from single model calls to multi-model scheduling. Different tasks require trade-offs between cost, latency, capacity, and data handling policies, necessitating a unified routing, permissioning, spending visualization, and audit-ready usage reporting. The company states that the new funding will be used to expand routing, governance, and optimization capabilities.

As model companies continue to drive prices and capabilities, developers increasingly require an intermediary layer to compare, switch, and schedule models. Whoever controls the actual call traffic is closer to a crucial position in enterprise AI procurement and model distribution.
