Iran: Working to Finalize MoU, Negotiation Focus on Ending the War

BlockBeats News, May 23rd - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei said in an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting on the 23rd that the current focus of the negotiations is to end the "imposed war" and not to delve into the nuclear issue for now. Iran and the U.S. are working on finalizing a memorandum of understanding.

Baghaei stated that the current negotiations do not involve the nuclear issue or the specific details of lifting sanctions. However, Iran's demands for sanction relief, especially the release of frozen assets, have been clearly outlined in the 14-point memorandum of understanding. He mentioned that Iran is temporarily avoiding discussions on the nuclear issue because they believe it has twice been used as an excuse to wage war against Iran.

Currently, Iran is focusing on ending "wars on all fronts, including Lebanon," with a possibility of re-entering negotiations on the nuclear issue in the next stage, possibly in 30 or 60 days.
