According to Pertinence Monitor, SpaceX has officially opened up its large-scale AI computing power service to the public. CEO Elon Musk confirmed on May 21 at the X Platform that following the partnership with Anthropic, SpaceX is in discussions with other companies to provide similar computing power services.
In the collaboration with Anthropic, SpaceX leased all the computing power of its Colossus 1 data center (including over 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs, with a capacity of over 300 megawatts) to Anthropic. This supply of computing power directly helped Anthropic double its Claude Code usage quota and lifted the throttle restrictions during peak hours.
In addition to ground-based computing power services, Musk also revealed longer-term space plans. Over time, SpaceX aims to provide massively scaled AI computing power services in space orbit through an in-orbit data center. Previously, SpaceX and Anthropic had also hinted at their intention to collaborate on the development of multi-gigawatt-level in-orbit computing power.
