《The New York Times》: US Prepares for Potential Military Strike Against Iran, Citing Intel

BlockBeats News, May 18th, according to The New York Times report, U.S. President Trump once again warned Iran that "the Clock is Ticking," urging Iran to quickly accept the U.S. proposed nuclear agreement conditions, or face the possibility of a new round of war.

The report stated that the U.S.-Iran negotiations have been at a standstill for several weeks, with Iran rejecting the U.S.'s demands for significant limits on uranium enrichment and the lifting of the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz. Iran stated on Monday that it has submitted a new counterproposal to the U.S. through Pakistan.

Meanwhile, two Middle Eastern officials revealed that the U.S. and Israel are engaged in the largest military preparations since the ceasefire, with the possibility of resuming military strikes against Iran as soon as this week. The Pentagon is also preparing to restart planning for the previously paused "Operation Epic Fury" military action.

The report noted that U.S. and Israel's possible options include resuming airstrikes and even deploying special forces to seize Iran's high-enriched uranium reserves. However, analysts believe that relying solely on airstrikes may not compel Iran to accept U.S. conditions, and ground operations could further escalate domestic anti-war pressure in the U.S.
