The on-chain ASTEROID market cap on Solana has exceeded $13 million, with a 24-hour price increase of over 50%.

BlockBeats News, May 12th, according to GMGN monitoring, the on-chain ASTEROID on Solana reached a peak market capitalization of $15 million and has slightly dropped to $13.5 million, with a 24-hour trading volume of $3.3 million. The Ethereum on-chain meme coin of the same name experienced an 11% decline during the same period, currently at a market cap of $125 million.

The narrative of the meme coin ASTEROID originates from a 15-year-old girl, Liv Perrotto. Her biggest wish before her passing was to meet Musk, and she was involved in designing a Shiba Inu-shaped plushie named "Asteroid." After the girl's death, her mother publicly wrote to Musk, which was later amplified by prominent media figure Glenn Beck on his show. On April 19th, Musk agreed for Asteroid to become the mascot of SpaceX.

Yesterday, Marc, the organizer of the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital crypto donation, revealed that during the process of receiving cryptocurrency donations for the hospital, the team has completed a phased exit of ASTEROID-related assets. Initially, about 0.5% of ASTEROID tokens were donated to the institution's ETH wallet and held long term due to the lack of an immediate fiat conversion path. Eventually, this position was entirely converted to approximately 290 ETH, valued at around $676,000, and will be used to support the hospital's medical and research projects.

BlockBeats reminds users that meme coin trading is highly volatile, heavily reliant on market sentiment and hype, and lacks practical value or use case. Investors should be aware of the risks.
