BlockBeats News, May 5th, according to AXIOS, a U.S. official and a source familiar with the matter revealed that a senior official in the Trump administration informed Iran on Sunday about the upcoming U.S. "guidance" operation to navigate ships through the Strait of Hormuz and warned Tehran not to interfere.
This privately conveyed information indicates that the White House is seeking to reduce the risk of a potential escalation. However, despite the warning, Iran has continued its series of attacks on U.S. Navy vessels, commercial ships, and the United Arab Emirates. On Tuesday, U.S. Defense Secretary and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Kane played down Iran's attacks and claimed that the ceasefire agreement is still in effect.
Nevertheless, some U.S. and Israeli officials believe that if the diplomatic impasse persists, President Trump may order a return to hostilities later this week.
