According to DataInsight Beating monitoring, during the Berkshire Hathaway shareholders meeting, CEO Abel outlined the development prospects of the energy business sector, pointing out that with the rapid development of the artificial intelligence industry, the energy sector is facing new growth opportunities. Currently, half of Berkshire's energy subsidiaries have started to undertake AI-related electricity demand and are actively monitoring industry trends and the practical space for business implementation. Taking Iowa as an example, the company's utility services have significantly expanded, with four large-scale data centers already established in the area, bringing a large number of new electricity customers to the region. The current data center electricity consumption accounts for 8% of the region's peak load, a very high proportion in the utility sector; this means that there is still significant room for growth in electricity demand being driven by computing infrastructure construction. The company expects that in the next five years, the proportion of data center electricity consumption is expected to increase by another 5 to 10 percentage points, and in the long term, it may even reach 50%, becoming the most potential growth curve in the energy business.
