BlockBeats News, May 2, data shows that the total crypto funding in April was $659 million, a 74% decrease from March's $2.6 billion, with the number of funding deals decreasing from 84 to 63. The cumulative funding since 2026 is approximately $5.64 billion.
April funding hit the lowest level since July 2024. The drop in funding reflects institutional caution amid weakening liquidity and risk appetite. Since October 2025, crypto funding has been continuously declining, while the total market capitalization has dropped by about 37% during the same period.
In specific sectors, DeFi projects received the most attention, with 12 funding deals completed in April, while blockchain services and AI-related projects each completed 8 deals. On the institutional side, market maker GSR was the most active investor of the month, participating in 4 funding transactions.
