The US AI Child Safety Act Receives Senate Committee Support, Tech Giants to be Affected

According to OneMillion AI Monitor, Bloomberg reported that a powerful committee in the U.S. Senate is backing legislation that calls on OpenAI, Meta Platforms (META.O), and other artificial intelligence companies to prevent minors from using AI chatbots in response to growing concerns from the public about the harm this rapidly advancing technology poses to children and teenagers.

In the highly polarized U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, Republicans and Democrats are setting aside partisan differences to unanimously support this bill. The bill would require AI companies to maintain strict age verification systems, prohibit the provision of AI companionship services to minors, and prevent chatbots from sending harmful messages to minors.
