BlockBeats News, April 28. On the afternoon of April 27 local time, Cole Allen, the suspect in the shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner, from California, appeared in a federal court in Washington. He is charged with attempting to assassinate the U.S. President, as well as transporting firearms across state lines and using firearms in violent crimes, totaling three charges.

If convicted, the charge of solely attempting to assassinate the President carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. Allen did not enter a plea at the hearing that day. He was only informed of the charges against him.

The judge ordered Allen to be detained during the case proceedings. His detention hearing is scheduled for the morning of April 30 local time, with a preliminary hearing set for the afternoon of May 11.
