France Cracks Down on Cryptocurrency 'Sim Swapping' Scheme, Charges 88 Individuals Including Some Minors

BlockBeats News, April 27th, Recently, French authorities have launched a large-scale crackdown on a series of violent robberies targeting cryptocurrency holders (commonly known as "rubber-hose attacks"), and have formally charged 88 individuals, including some minors. This type of crime usually refers to criminals using violence to threaten victims to surrender their crypto assets.


It was revealed that since 2023, France has recorded 135 such crypto-related violent incidents. This law enforcement action reflects that as the value of cryptocurrency rises, offline crimes against holders are on the rise nationwide.
