According to Dynamic AI Beating monitoring, OpenAI Codex has added a browser use feature, allowing the coding agent to now interact with the browser within the application. After developers have Codex generate frontend code, Codex can autonomously open the built-in browser, interact with the rendered UI by clicking like a human, identify and fix bugs through screen visualization and network/console logs, without requiring developers to manually switch out for validation.
This feature runs through a Browser plugin integrated into Codex, where users can manage a list of allowed and blocked websites in the settings. OpenAI Codex engineer James Sun stated that this update brings Codex "closer to being an autonomous coding agent that can deliver high-quality, tested code changes."
