BlockBeats News, April 24th - President Trump announced that the existing ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon will be extended by three weeks. The extension aims to provide more time to reach a long-term agreement and to remove key obstacles for the U.S. in ending the Iran-related conflict.
Trump stated that he will invite Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to visit the U.S. soon. He mentioned that the U.S. will collaborate with Lebanon to address the security challenges posed by Hezbollah but did not disclose specific measures.
Regarding the Iran issue, Trump mentioned that Tehran "wants to reach an agreement but is internally chaotic," emphasizing that he is not in a hurry to negotiate. However, if Iran refuses to reach an agreement, he stated that the conflict would be ended "through military means." He also made it clear that nuclear weapons will not be used, as he believes that conventional military force already has overwhelming superiority.
Furthermore, Trump pointed out that during the previous ceasefire period, Iran may have "slightly replenished its military equipment," but the U.S. has the capability to quickly destroy it. He reiterated his hope to promote a "lasting" agreement rather than hastily reaching a short-term arrangement.
