BlockBeats News, April 21: Federal Reserve Chair nominee Powell stated that if appointed and leading the Fed, he will push for a comprehensive reform in policy-making.
Powell told the Senate committee: "In my view, the Fed needs fundamental policy reform. The mistakes made in addressing inflation during the COVID-19 pandemic call for such reform, which I believe means a shift in policy implementation. I believe this means a need for a different, entirely new inflation framework."
Powell stated, "We need new tools, we need new forms of communication," mentioning forward guidance, economic projections, and the dot plot. He said the Fed should wait to issue statements until the meeting, as forecasts would hinder decision-making.
