According to Dynamic Beating monitoring, when xAI was asked by Tesla CEO Musk on X about which version of Grok would achieve AGI, he only replied "Grok 5." He directly pegged the AGI milestone to this version.
Subsequently, he also posted the full version roadmap: 4.4=$1T, 4.5=$1.5T, 4.6=$3T, 4.7=$6T, 4.8=$10T, 4.9=???, 5.0=AGI, 6.0=ASI, 7.0=ASI2. The currently open test is 4.3 beta ($0.5T). Following this table, versions 4.4 to 4.8 see parameters progressively scaled up to $10T, in line with his previous statement about the bi-weekly rollout of an improved base model. Version 4.9 is left blank, while version 5.0 and beyond are directly labeled AGI, ASI (a hypothetical stage beyond AGI where artificial intelligence surpasses human intelligence), and ASI2.
At the end of this comprehensive roadmap, Musk added a shrug and laughing-crying emoji, suggesting that the labels post-5.0 are semi-joking and not commitments to parameters or capabilities. However, the earlier "Grok 5 = AGI" statement did not contain an emoji, which could be seen as his personal public stance on the timing of AGI.
