Foreign Media: Iran Proposes Allowing Free Passage of Vessels on One Side of the Strait of Hormuz

BlockBeats News, April 16th, according to Reuters, a source familiar with Tehran's position said that Iran might consider allowing ships to sail freely on the Oman side of the Strait of Hormuz without the risk of attack if an agreement could be reached to avoid another outbreak of conflict. This idea has been included in its negotiation proposal.

Iran will continue to control its waters in the Strait of Hormuz, while Oman will decide on affairs on its side of the waterway. The source did not specify whether Iran would agree to clear any mines it may have laid in the waterway or whether all ships (including those associated with Israel) would be allowed free passage.

The source added that this proposal depends on whether Washington is willing to meet Tehran's demands, which is also a key condition for any breakthrough on the issue of the Strait of Hormuz.
