WSJ: Israel-Lebanon Talks Next Week to Set Stage for Ambassador-Level Discussions

BlockBeats News, April 10th, according to The Wall Street Journal, a mediator and a person familiar with the matter said that the Israeli-Lebanese talks scheduled to take place in Washington next week will be at the ambassadorial level as a preparatory meeting, rather than a higher-level meeting.

The mediator said that officials attending the talks will include: Israeli Ambassador to the United States Gilad Erdan, Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Gabriel Issa, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea, and former Lebanese Ambassador to the United States Simon Karam.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that Israel will engage in direct talks with Lebanon, focusing on the issue of Hezbollah's disarmament. The day before he made these comments, Trump had called to ask him to reduce the intensity of the strikes on Lebanon, fearing that these strikes would jeopardize the Iran ceasefire agreement.
