US-Iran Islamic Board talks take a turn, ceasefire agreement mired in uncertainty

BlockBeats News, April 9th: Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan, Moghadam, suddenly deleted a social media post announcing the delegation's visit to Pakistan for a conference, casting a shadow over the first round of US-Iran peace talks scheduled to be held in Islamabad.

The White House confirmed on Thursday that US Vice President JD Vance will lead a delegation to Pakistan on Saturday to attend the negotiations. There are fundamental disagreements between the US and Iran regarding the ceasefire agreement reached earlier this week:

· Lebanon Issue: Iran insists that the ceasefire cover Lebanon and demands that Israel cease its attacks on Hezbollah; Trump and Vance, on the other hand, explicitly deny this, stating that Lebanon was never included in the ceasefire terms.
· Uranium Enrichment Issue: Iran insists that the agreement safeguards its right to uranium enrichment, while the US explicitly states that it "will not accept" this.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Kalibaf issued a statement on Wednesday listing three alleged violations – the Lebanese ceasefire being breached, drones infiltrating Iranian airspace, and the denial of uranium enrichment rights – and bluntly stated that "in this situation, a bilateral ceasefire or negotiation is utterly unreasonable."

The core contradictions are as follows: Israel refuses to halt its military actions against Hezbollah, the US rejects Iran's uranium enrichment, the negotiations have not yet begun, and the foundation is already showing cracks. The future direction depends on whether the Iranian delegation will ultimately proceed.
