BlockBeats News, April 9, Wednesday, a federal appeals court in Washington D.C. rejected Anthropic's request for a temporary halt to the Department of Defense's blacklisting of the company, which is currently suing over the sanction. Previously, a judge in a San Francisco federal court at the end of last month issued a preliminary injunction in another related case, barring the Trump administration from enforcing a ban on the company's Claude AI model.
The appeals court stated in its ruling: "We find that the equities in this case favor the government." "On the one hand, the risk of economic loss to a private company is relatively small; on the other hand, how the Department of Defense acquires critically important AI technology during military conflicts requires oversight by the judiciary. Therefore, we reject Anthropic's motion for stay pending appeal to allow for review of the merits of the case." (CNBC)
