Have the US and Iran Both Claimed Victory? No Agreement Yet, Next Key Date April 10

BlockBeats News, April 8, Beijing Time this morning, nearing the original "ultimatum" deadline, Iran reached a two-week ceasefire agreement with the United States and Israel under special conditions. Under the coordination of the Iranian side, the strait will be safe for passage in the next two weeks.

It is worth noting that both sides later declared victory, with U.S. President Trump stating in an interview with Agence France-Presse on the 7th that the Iran uranium enrichment issue will be "perfectly handled." He also claimed that the two-week ceasefire with Iran was a "thorough and complete victory" for the United States.

According to CCTV News, the Supreme National Security Council of Iran congratulated all the Iranian people on the victory in a statement. The statement stated that the U.S. has committed in principle to:

· Ensure no further military action

· Recognize Iran's continued control of the Strait of Hormuz

· Accept Iran's uranium enrichment activities

· Lift all primary and secondary sanctions on Iran

· Pay compensation for the losses to Iran

However, this statement was soon contradicted in subsequent news reports. Iranian Majlis Speaker Kalibaf will lead an Iranian delegation to negotiate with the U.S. in Islamabad, Pakistan, with the U.S. delegation led by Vice President Vance. The Iranian and U.S. delegations are expected to hold further negotiations in Islamabad on April 10 to reach a final agreement to resolve all disputes.

In addition, the Iranian Navy informed ships anchored near the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday morning local time that they still need Iran's permission to pass through the strait. A recording shared by a crew member stated: "All ships must obtain permission from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Navy to pass through the strait. Any ship attempting to transit without permission will be destroyed."

It is evident that this ceasefire agreement may be limited to a ceasefire, as both sides have not yet reached a consensus on specific conflict points, and their attitudes are even so tough, at least in their public statements.
