Solana Foundation Executive: Drift Hack was an Isolated Incident, Does Not Represent Systemic Risk to Solana DeFi

BlockBeats News, April 2nd, Vibhu Norby, Chief Product Officer of the Solana Foundation, stated in a post that "Drift has experienced a highly sophisticated attack, and the current source of the attack is still under investigation. This incident is not due to a program or smart contract vulnerability. Similar to most recent crypto attacks (such as Bybit, Neutrl, Step), this appears more like an operational security (opsec) or social engineering attack, rather than a contract risk.

Unfortunately, this incident occurred on a Solana-based project. However, in reality, any protocol relying on multisig protection is susceptible to similar attacks on any chain. As the investigation progresses, it is expected that a wealth of lessons learned will be summarized and disseminated within the industry. But this is an isolated incident and does not imply any systemic issue with Solana DeFi or other Solana products themselves. I believe that the Solana DeFi community will regroup and swiftly rebuild as it has always done."
