Bitdeer Liquidates Bitcoin to Accelerate Transformation into AI, Will Build Norway's Largest AI Data Center

BlockBeats News, March 31st, According to The Block, Bitcoin miner Bitdeer announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement to build the country's largest AI data center in Norway. Under the agreement, Bitdeer's subsidiary Tydal Data Center AS (TDC) has entered into a contract with Norwegian contractor Data Center Installations AS (DCI) to "construct and retrofit" the existing facility to support Nvidia's latest Vera Rubin AI technology. The data center, upon completion, will "primarily" serve the operational needs of this technology.

TDC Co-founder and Chairman Haakon Bryhni stated: "The transformation of the Tydal facility is a key pillar of Bitdeer's global strategy to address the explosive demand for AI data centers. By retrofitting the existing facility for large-scale AI deployment, TDC will be at the forefront of the AI revolution, maintaining sustainable, capital-efficient growth while creating significant value locally."

This collaboration is the latest move by Bitdeer to accelerate its AI transformation. The company recently announced it has liquidated its corporate Bitcoin treasury and plans to raise $300 million through a private placement of convertible preferred notes. As Bitcoin mining profitability continues to decline, the attractiveness of providing computing power and infrastructure to the AI industry is increasing for miners.
