BlockBeats News, March 27th, according to The Wall Street Journal, a knowledgeable U.S. defense official revealed that the Pentagon is considering deploying as many as 10,000 ground troops to the Middle East to provide President Trump with more military options as he weighs talks with Iran. This force, which could include infantry and armored vehicles, would join some 5,000 Marines and thousands of paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division who have been ordered to the region. It is currently unclear where these troops would specifically be stationed in the Middle East, but it is likely within range to strike Iran and its Qeshm Island.
Trump has repeatedly said that he would open the Hormuz Strait, whether or not the U.S. has help from allies. White House Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly said that all announcements regarding troop deployments would come from the Defense Department. As we've said, President Trump always has all military options on the table. A spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, which oversees American military forces in the Middle East, declined to comment.
