OpenAI Completes Next-Gen Model SPUD Pretraining, Altman Steps Down from Security Role to Build Data Center

Altman also announced the transition of the AI Safety team to Chief Research Officer Mark Chen's research division, the Information Security team to the "scaling" department led by co-founder and president Greg Brockman, and his own focus on fundraising, the supply chain, and the "unprecedented scale construction of data centers." Executive Fidji Simo will lead the product department, which has been renamed to "AGI Deployment."
