BlockBeats News, March 15th, Wintermute founder and CEO Evgeny Gaevoy stated, "The Ethereum Foundation released a mission statement, and what I see more of is criticism rather than celebration, which is also reasonable. After all, most of us in the crypto space have 'transitioned' into the existing world system."
More seriously, currently the Ethereum Foundation is the only player with both resources and network effects, not only able to sustain the cypherpunk dream but also to truly realize it. In the short term, will this be reflected in the Ethereum price? Definitely not. In the long term, will it? Only if it succeeds. Should we care about the price? I personally think the goal is more important.
I absolutely believe that at least someone should try to achieve this goal at a macro level, rather than just pursuing financial applications. The rest of the people can choose to do what they do and decide whether to hold ETH. To be honest, long-term holding is a very long-term bet, but compared to other worse 'faiths,' this one is acceptable, so I will continue to hold my ETH for the sake of culture and memes."
