According to 1M AI News's monitoring, an AI hardware device named Violoop is set to launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter in early April, priced around $300, positioning itself as an "AI-native computer." The product takes the form of a desktop box the size of an alarm clock, connects to the user's main computer via an HDMI cable, is recognized by the system as a physical keyboard and mouse device, and is plug-and-play. The team claims to have completed two rounds of funding within one month, with the amount undisclosed.
Violoop's core selling point is "active" interaction: the device contains an in-house developed vision model that performs real-time screen content analysis through keyframe extraction, identifies user intent, proactively suggests and executes tasks without the need for user prompt scripting. For example, if it detects the user manually moving invoice data, it will suggest taking care of the organization and inputting. As it is recognized by the system as external hardware rather than a software process, Violoop can operate across applications such as WeChat, Kinemaster, QuickBooks, and other closed-source software without APIs. Visual analysis is performed locally on the client side, and screen data is not uploaded to the cloud.
The security architecture utilizes a dual-chip physical isolation design: the main chip runs AI, while an independent security chip stores keys, personal information, and financial data in complete isolation from the outside world. When performing high-risk tasks such as banking operations or sending sensitive files, users must confirm via physical device buttons or a mobile app for a second time. The team has developed a bridging chip that opens up the video streaming input channel, reducing the core chip's cost to one-fourth of the standard solution.
Violoop was co-founded by CEO Jaylen Ho and CTO King Zhu, with the project starting in early 2025, predating the Lobster Craze. Jaylen Ho is a serial entrepreneur, while King Zhu reportedly entered MIT at the age of 18, worked on consumer-grade circuit design at Microsoft, and began researching AI chips in 2017. Jaylen Ho suggests that Violoop's first-mover advantage window may be as short as six months, with the moat depending on whether a highly sticky closed-source software workflow ecosystem can be established during this period.
