Iran may elect Supreme Leader today, Trump hopes to participate

BlockBeats News, March 8th, according to Xinhua News Agency citing a message released by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran on the 7th, a member of an Iranian experts' assembly said, the meeting to elect Iran's Supreme Leader will take place within the next 24 hours. Ayatollah Muzafer, a member of the Iranian experts' assembly, stated that the members of the assembly are currently waiting for the conditions to be ripe to carefully elect the new Supreme Leader. Muzafer said that so far, there has been no public announcement regarding the meeting and the election, and he called on the public not to believe rumors.

In response, Trump stated that he hopes to be involved in the selection of Iran's next leader and said he does not want the U.S. to "face the same problem every five or ten years." Trump had previously stated on the 5th that he "must be personally involved" in choosing Iran's next leader. On that day, Trump stated that he would not accept the son of the late Supreme Leader Khamenei as Iran's new leader. He said, "I must be personally involved in the appointment."
