BlockBeats News, March 5th, according to TheInformation report, as of the end of February 2026, OpenAI's annualized revenue has exceeded $25 billion.
OpenAI's CFO Sarah Friar previously confirmed in the company's official blog and multiple reports in January 2026 that the company's 2025 annualized revenue had exceeded $20 billion, a growth of about 230% from $6 billion in 2024. However, some subsequent publicly available investor information indicates that OpenAI's actual full-year revenue in 2025 was about $13.1 billion, surpassing the company's early $10 billion target but falling short of the peak annualized estimate of $20 billion. After rapid growth in 2025, OpenAI experienced a slowdown in the second half of the year. Media outlets like CNBC estimated its mid-year annualized revenue to be around $10-13 billion and its year-end annualized revenue to be about $5.5 billion.
In contrast, OpenAI's direct competitor, Anthropic, had around $4 billion in mid-year annualized revenue in 2025, which rapidly increased to around $9 billion by year-end, driven by enterprise customers and products like Claude Code. As of early March this year, their latest annualized revenue has exceeded $19 billion. Currently, Claude Code's run rate has surpassed $2.5 billion and has over 500 customers spending over $1 million annually. The gap between Anthropic and OpenAI is narrowing.
