US Media: Saudi and Israeli Pressure Prompted Trump to Order Attack on Iran

BlockBeats News, March 1st, according to The Washington Post, four sources familiar with the matter revealed that U.S. President Trump launched a large-scale airstrike against Iran on Saturday, backed by two unusual Middle Eastern allies—Israel and Saudi Arabia—who had been lobbying for this for weeks.

Sources said that despite Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman publicly supporting a diplomatic solution to the Iran issue, he had privately called Trump multiple times in the past month advocating for a U.S. airstrike. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu continued to publicly push for U.S. strikes against Iran, considering Iran as Israel's "existential enemy." Under pressure from all sides, Trump ordered a large-scale airstrike against the Iranian leadership and military.

Despite U.S. intelligence assessments suggesting that the Iranian military is unlikely to pose a direct threat to the U.S. mainland in the next decade, the attack still took place.
