BlockBeats News, February 26: The prediction market Kalshi took its first enforcement action against insider trading, imposing insider trading fines on MrBeast associates and a former California gubernatorial candidate for the first time.
Artem Kaptur, a video editor for the popular YouTuber MrBeast, used his position to access non-public information from MrBeast's channel and traded on related event contracts on Kalshi. He will be banned from accessing Kalshi for the next 2 years and fined $20,397.58, including the recovery of illegal profits of $5,397.58 and an additional fine of $15,000.
Kyle Langford, a 24-year-old Republican and former California gubernatorial candidate, had bet about $200 on his own gubernatorial campaign on Kalshi in May 2025 and posted a video bragging about it and encouraging others to follow suit. Kalshi prohibits candidates from trading on events related to themselves. He was given a 5-year ban from accessing Kalshi and fined an amount equal to 10 times the transaction amount (about $2,000).
