U.S. Customs Halts Collection of Tariffs Ruled Unlawful by Supreme Court

2026-02-23 05:10

BlockBeats News, February 23, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that, at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday (13:01 Beijing Time), it will stop collecting tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

Previously, the U.S. Supreme Court had ruled these tariffs illegal. CBP announced to shippers on its Customs Messaging System Messaging Service (CMSMS) that it will deactivate all tariff codes related to orders previously issued by President Trump under the IEEPA starting Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Trump, under another legal authority, imposed a new 15% tariff on global goods to replace the tariffs that were ruled illegal by the Supreme Court on Friday. (Golden Finance)
