According to PolyBeats monitoring, in the prediction market Polymarket, an account with a historical opening median of $116 has bet $3000 on the Minneapolis Border Patrol agent who shot a civilian being charged, with the current probability of charges being 12%.
On January 14, during a law enforcement operation in northern Minneapolis, a Border Patrol agent shot and injured a Venezuelan man. Initially, officials claimed the man had attacked the federal agent, leading to both Venezuelans facing federal felony charges.
However, on February 13, the U.S. Department of Justice suddenly dropped all charges against the two Venezuelan men, citing "new video evidence" that severely conflicted with the agent's testimony. The involved agent is currently under criminal investigation for perjury under oath and has been suspended.
