The UK's Information Commissioner's Office said in a statement on Tuesday that the formal investigation will focus on whether there has been improper processing of personal data in the generation of these images. Last month, Grok sparked strong public and political backlash. Users on X coerced the chatbot to generate AI images of real individuals without their consent. Earlier on Tuesday, French law enforcement carried out a raid on X's office in Paris.
The UK's Information Commissioner's Office stated that it has the power to impose a maximum fine of £17.5 million (approximately $24 million) on xAI or 4% of the company's global annual revenue, whichever is higher. (Golden Finance)
