Jack Dorsey questions Tether's $250,000 donation to Bitcoin developer support organization OpenSats as being too small

2025-10-18 22:56

BlockBeats News, October 18th, according to Decrypt's report, stablecoin giant Tether announced this week a $250,000 donation to the Bitcoin developer support organization OpenSats, a move that was immediately questioned by Twitter co-founder and Block (formerly Square) CEO Jack Dorsey.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino, after posting the donation message on X, received a brief response from Dorsey: "Why only $250,000?"

Tether made a profit of up to $13 billion last year and is seeking funding based on a $500 billion valuation. In comparison, Dorsey revealed that he has donated over $21 million to OpenSats through the Start Small fund and has long been a supporter of decentralized and open-source Bitcoin development.
