Vitalik: Ethereum's mission is to connect the East and West communities, planning to achieve 10x scalability next year

2025-09-13 19:14

BlockBeats News, September 13th, according to Bitcoin.com, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin took the stage at EthTokyo 2025 to deliver a speech, stating his firm belief that Layer 2 solutions are the future direction of Ethereum. He further set forth an ambitious goal: Ethereum plans to achieve a 10x scaling solution next year, increasing the network's throughput and accessibility while maintaining decentralization and security.

Vitalik especially emphasized the role of Asia. Chinese developers worked on early PyEthereum clients, volunteers translated the whitepaper and documentation into multiple languages, and community efforts propelled Ethereum globally. He contrasted the Chinese and Japanese developer styles: Chinese projects progress rapidly and at a large scale, while Japanese developers are more inclined to experiment with new technologies.

Looking to the future, Vitalik called for more researchers and application developers to join in, not relying solely on the core team. He encouraged Asian developers to focus on efficiency and security, considering AI to be a crucial learning tool. New technologies often "reset" the ecosystem, such as the breakthrough brought by zero-knowledge proofs. Vitalik predicted that the 2030s would usher in a new technological paradigm.

Vitalik reiterated that Ethereum's mission is to connect the Eastern and Western communities. Regarding fundraising models, he believed the global reach of ICOs had an advantage over traditional VCs and proposed that future funding mechanisms should combine ICOs with DAO governance to create a more open and transparent financial system.
