Apple, Google, and 16 Billion Other Login Credentials Leaked, Triggering Security Concerns in the Cryptography Industry

BlockBeats News, June 19th, according to Cointelegraph's report, over 16 billion login credentials from mainstream online service providers such as Apple, Google, and Facebook have been leaked, and this large-scale data breach may have serious consequences for cryptocurrency holders. Login credentials refer to usernames and passwords (or other authentication information).

According to a report released on Friday, the Cybernews research team reviewed "30 leaked data sets, each containing tens of millions to over 35 billion records." These data sets in total reached an "astounding 16 billion leaked login credentials."

The report noted, "In addition to one 'mysterious database' containing 184 million records that has been reported on, the rest of the data sets have not been previously disclosed." Most databases contain an average of about 5.5 billion records, with the smallest data set having over 16 million records.

Cybernews warned that this data could become the "foundation for large-scale attacks," providing attackers with "fresh and weaponizable large-scale intelligence." It is alleged that most data leaks originate from unprotected Elasticsearch instances or object storage services.
