Hong Kong Proposes Exempting Cryptocurrency Gains Tax for Accredited Investors

BlockBeats News, November 29th, according to Reuters, a consultation paper from the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau proposed expanding the capital gains tax exemption to include overseas property, carbon credits, private debt, and cryptocurrency.

These exemptions would apply to private equity funds and eligible single-family office investment vehicles. Thursday's proposal further clarified Hong Kong's cryptocurrency plans.

However, it is unclear when this policy would take effect if the proposal were to move forward. Hong Kong did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
